Brody is Walking

Brody is walking!! Talk about being busy now.....He is so cute(I know I am a little biased)!! He took his first steps on Sunday, October 28. Thank Goodness I was actually home for it!!
He seems to have become an expert in only a few shorts weeks of practice. Although he still walks with "stiff legs". Here he is in action...

Halloween 2007

Brody's first Halloween...he was a zebra. A very cute zebra with a cool black mohawk! He had no clue about getting candy and what was going on...but mommy and daddy sure had fun! We only visited the people we know in the neighbourhood, maybe next year he can go around the block! He did get to hang out with his cousin Hayden for a bit...who was a very cute elephant! The two of them are so fun together!!

Into EVERYTHING!

Brody is totally into everything now. I turn my back and before you know it he is in the tupperware cupboard, hauling everything out and getting in it! He loves to play peek-a-boo with anything he can put over his own face, playing with daddy's hats and singing songs with Oma.I can't believe he is going to be 1 soon, he is getting to be such a little man!!

Waterton, AB

The weekend before I started back to work, we decided to take a little family trip, so we went to Waterton for the weekend. It is in Southern Alberta right on the water. Beautiful...and we had a blast with the three of us. We stayed in a nice hotel, did lots of walking, looking at deer (there were tons!), did some shopping, and rented a double bike with Brody in the front seat. He loved it!

Wow...time flies!

Brody is already 10 months! Time goes by so fast. He is almost walking, he loves to walk with help from his "walking toys" and stands all by himself with great pride. He is still a very happy little man and smiles and laughs all the time. I am gearing up to go back to work on October 1st. It is kind of bitter sweet....I am looking forward to working again, but can't imagine anyone taking as good a care of Brody as myself. I will miss him immensely, but Scott and I have found a very good daycare that we feel super comfortable with. I think it will be a good experience for all of us!!

Nova Scotia Vacation

Brody, Oma and I went on vacation in the middle of August to vist Nanny and Poppy in Nova Scotia. it was my mom's first time there and we had a really good time. Nanny and Poppy were very happy to see there little man too! We got out to lots of cool places like Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg in Annapolis Valley, the Halifax Waterfront and Rainbow Haven beach. My mom loved it there, she said she would move there in a heartbeat, except for the fact that she wouldn't want to leave us (well at least her grandsons, Brody and Hayden)!!

Even Oma came in to let us have a break and give Brody a bath! He was a little weirded out by the big bag on his arm to protect the IV from getting wet.

We just had a bit of a scare with our precious little Brody. He had developed some rash looking spots on his legs along with a fever. So to the advice of the Calgary Healthlink (GREAT resource) we took him into the Alberta Children's Hospital. To our surprise and very unexpected of course, they asked to admit him and perform a bunch of tests as there was a chance he might have meningitis. Scott and I were floored! After a very emotional 4 day stay at the Children's Hospital along with lots of poking and prodding at Brody (he had blood tests ran, a spinal tap, an IV and a heart rate monitor on his toe)the tests came back negative for any bacterial infection and we got to take our little angel home. Ended up that he just had a basic viral infection, nothing major, but they were glad we came in to get it checked out. So we were sent home with some additional antibiotics and Brody was quickly back to his old self. It definitely scared us a lot to think that something could happen to our little boy beyond our control! We are just happy to have him home again and I am definitely happy to be sleeping in my own bed, as is Scott, and catch up on some much needed sleep!! As you can see by the pictures, Brody did pretty well in the hospital as he still managed to get out some smiles. What a trooper!!!

Brody is 8 months old!!

8 months old...and he is on the move! He started crawling just over 2 weeks ago and man is he fast! We have evolved into a whole new parenting era....and No! is becoming a favorite word. Brody gets into everything now. From splashing water out of Max's bowl, to trying to chomp on power cords or bee-lining it to take a nose dive down the staircase...it is non-stop. And everytime I tell him 'no', he turns around and flashes me a big smile...so cute, but you have to remain serious!! He also has had his first 2 teeth since just over 5 weeks now. We think a few more may be on the way!

Brody is over half a year old!!

It has been over a month since I posted on here and Brody is almost 7 months old already. It has been very busy. Between mom and baby aquasize, visists with friends, mom and Brody time and our trip to Newfoundland, I rarely have time to be on the computer!! So what's new? Well, Brody is sitting up now all by himself, he crawls backwards (and made two strides forwards the other day with Dad!!), he loves cereal and vegetables, but is not too crazy about fruit. He is still super happy and smiles all the time. he is ticklish all over and at any moment you can get him into a full on belly laugh with the pinch of a finger! He is AWESOME!! Our trip was very good. We got to spend quality time with Scott's bro and his family and see some really nice sites. We even went out to Point May, which is 'middle of nowhere' Newfoundland.
